I just installed Liberty Basic 4.5.1 and the welcome screen contains info about the "GOLD" license. I'm pretty sure it was changed to "Pro". Also the pro version makes standalone exes.

I just installed Liberty Basic 4.5.1 and the welcome screen contains info about the "GOLD" license. I'm pretty sure it was changed to "Pro". Also the pro version makes standalone exes. No, it wasn't. It's true that this is a legacy message, and should probably be updated. However, older versions of LB(including LB4) had two licenses available: Silver and Gold. IIRC, an unlicensed version of LB has an unskippable welcome screen, a limit to length of running programs, and some other limitations. The Silver license removed those limitations, and the unskippable welcome screen. The Gold edition added the ability to use the standalone runtime engine to distribute applications without distributing source code. Compiled apps couldn't run without a Gold license compiling them. The Silver license is no longer available, I think it stopped being sold back in 2006 around the time LB v4.03 + Assist was out. (Assist being the old name of Pro). The only license available for LB itself was still called "Gold" for quite a while, I think that changed when 4.04 was released in 2010. After that, the "Gold" license was referred to as just "Liberty BASIC", whereas Liberty BASIC + Assist became "Liberty BASIC Pro". The distribution of Assist did change, though. Assist was an add-on package for LB v4.03; you had to have LB v4.03 installed to be able to install and use Assist. LB Pro is an isolated distribution that can be installed on its own, or alongside standard LB.

Ah that clears it up. I came in around 2013 so that's why I thought silver = non-pro version.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up. If you buy Liberty BASIC now for $59.95 you get the same as the GOLD license, unless you buy Liberty BASIC Pro for $119.95 which is the same as Liberty BASIC + Assist.
