How many bytes are used for numeric variables in random access files? If it is not 8 bytes for double precision like Quick Basic is there a way to read files produced in QB?

Unfortunately a Liberty BASIC RAF just stores numbers as clear text in as many characters as you assign in the field statement. So I don't think RAF will help. QBasic had a variety of numeric data types, do you know what symbol was used in the QBasic program to define the data type? Can you show sample numbers and file content? Don't think I can help further but there are one or two folks using the forum who may be able to help. Google BaySix Software, Brent runs a forum and is very likely to be able to help. Brent has routines to mimic CVD and MKD$ QBasic commands, that's probably where your answer lies. www.b6sw.com/forum/content.php?mode=snips&t=206#MKD_0
