Hello. Why does the site still have an old design?

That seems a bit rude. Care to rephrase your question? Do you have a useful suggestion or motivating critique perhaps?

Ha ha, because it’s staffed by folks designed in the 50s. Seriously though, we are a support forum specifically for Liberty BASIC. So you know what you get here. There are plenty trendy forums that discuss multiple basics if that’s what you are after. Have you fired up Liberty yet? that’s where the fun is.
I suppose we could have a much nicer graphic front end but we would need a nice graphics person that worked for free. The content wouldn’t change though, for that you would need a pile of trendy members!

..or people like me 'thrown together' in the Forties!
I much prefer web interfaces that don't use too much colour and 'bling'. LB's website is about conveying what LB is and does, how to obtain it, etc.
My own website is also unashamedly 'old school' for that reason. The code and graphics on it are the whole point of the site. I pay 200gbp per year to keep it available and growing, and have in the past run webservers from one of my home machines, but it's a drag trying to keep machines running 24/7 in an area where we get regular power cuts and adsl outages. Meanwhile my son charges 80 dollars per hour to create web sites for folks..
What is a bit off-putting is the links which lead to the old wikispace sites and Yahoo forum. Their closure was not of our making, and done at short notice, but the links DO need removing.

Ah penny drops, might you be referring to the ShopTalk Systems Site? In which case I apologise for calling all our members untrendy!

Ah, now there's a valid point; the links could use some love.
On the whole though, I'd much rather see the lion's share of effort go toward further development of LB 5.0 rather than spending time trying to make the web site wiggle pretty for the more "energetic" folks out there. Back in the 90s, in the interest of pretty web wiggles, a bunch of "clever" idiots came up with that soul-sucking, bandwidth bleeding, nightmare, called Flash and it has taken no less than Steve Jobs himself (God rest his soul) to publicly denigrate it and the more rational members of the Internet community to band together to eradicate that syphilitic infection, and we still have to wait until the end of 2020 for that garbage to officially reach end of life. So, clamp it, kids! And get off my lawn!
Hey, wow! I can see my house from here...Oh, sorry about the soap box.

Hello. Why does the site still have an old design? Probably a troll, I've recently seen similar criticisms of 'the site' having an old design, without clarifying which site, on some linux forums. The posts were the first and only one from a new member. Many members replied but a response from the OP was not forthcoming.

Just a young man exploring I think. He has some BASIC interests if you follow the trail. He has a point, our presentations on the web are all a bit staid when you look at Arduino and Raspberry and such.

If I knew what to change to make more sales I would do it. Perhaps you have some suggestions for websites that I could take some inspiration from? -Carl

Well, his avatar appears to be genuine. "xvesero" appears to be a young man by the name of ”sniped by Rod, the young man is entitled to his privacy.”
Welcome, Dan!

It does have some really impressive looking features. And it's very easy to set up.

That's fine, but my question is what sort of visual style and layout would be an improvement and why?

I like the simple designs, white background, black text. Maybe a logo on top. Minimalist. No JavaScript. A site for programmers, easy to read.

is now available for Linux and Mac
Libertybasic 5
will draw them in from near and far. and maybe a few flashing lights
