Gee, please tell me why you settled on Arch Linux? It's almost like trying to install Linux from 20 years ago.
Hi there, yeah the installation process is indeed time consuming to say the least,
At least for the first time.
Mainly, Arch gives me much control over the operating system, no pre-installed
software, none of that. Anything and everything that's installed, I put it there.
This is also why Arch gives me much customization of the OS, there's nothing
stopping me from reinventing the wheel.
Another reason is that the image is actually quite small, under 700mb, which is
perfect, since I have a large collection of CD-ROMs which I also like to use for
backup operating systems. And yes, these CD-ROMs are still somewhat limited
in size. As modern operating systems get larger and larger, and older versions
get obsolete, Arch is small, but I also don't need to get a new image every month
to keep my system up to date. Its perfect for a backup OS.
Because of it's size and compactness, I can use it for many hardware projects
aswell, like servers, custom consoles and a lot more.
All-in-All, Arch is great for development, and gives me much control of my OS.
Cheers!
