I have an oldish i5 dual core. Pc. My pc only ever gets to 50% cpu usage. But that is 100% of one core. That’s how Windows reports cpu useage. I expect you have a quad core pc so it reports 25% useage but that is really 100% of the core running Liberty. You will find a lot of software runs the same way, single core.

You can change the display in task manager to display each core separately, if I remember correctly. Sorry, I am not using task manager, I am using process explorer by the Sysinternals.

I am a current user of 4.5.1 on PC with Win/10. I am interested in LB for Raspberry Pi. What do I need to do to get LB for the RPi?
Thanks, Dan

Download the LB5 alpha ZIP file mentioned in the initial post and follow the instructions contained in the alphaTestNotes.txt file for your target operating system.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know how to get LB5 working on mac? I am running the 14" Macbook Pro with the M1 Max chip. I simply get a window that says "The application lb5x64-352.app can't be opened". I don't have an intel mac to test on, so I suspect it's an Apple silicon issue. There's no option in the file properties for the .app file to run with Rosetta, either.
Running from the terminal, this is the most specific error I was able to get after playing around with it:
[~/Downloads/lb5-352]$ sudo open ./lb5x64-352.app/Contents/MacOS/vm ./lb5alpha64.im No application knows how to open URL file:///Users/joanna/Downloads/lb5-352/lb5alpha64.im (Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-10814 "kLSApplicationNotFoundErr: E.g. no application claims the file" UserInfo={_LSLine=1489, _LSFunction=runEvaluator}).

I have it running quite happily on my own iMac M1. Unfortunately I am very new to the Mac so not sure exactly what I did to get it running I did have the problems getting it to fire up initially. If memory serves you have to copy the download to your Home directory. I will search to see if I can find the discussion. Heap here I stumble through iMac install. libertybasiccom.proboards.com/thread/1693/running-on-macThis was the crucial hint from Stefan that got me up and running once I had figured out how to copy the file.

Okay, thanks Rod! Even when I move it to the home folder, I am getting this error. sudo open ./lb5x64-352.app/Contents/MacOS/vm ./lb5alpha64.im No application knows how to open URL file:///Users/joanna/lb5-352/lb5alpha64.im (Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-10814 "kLSApplicationNotFoundErr: E.g. no application claims the file" UserInfo={_LSLine=1489, _LSFunction=runEvaluator}).

Liberty BASIC should be copied into your user folder.
From the command line that would be established by typing cd ~ and Enter. Then type pwd and Enter and it will tell you what your user folder is. Then you should be able to double click on the lb5x64-352 app in the Finder to start it.
I wonder if the permissions for the vm file are not set to execute?

Thank you, Carl — it was missing the executable permission on the application! I had to give it the exec permission via the following: chmod +x ./lb5x64-352.app/Contents/MacOS/vm sudo lb5x64-352.app/Contents/MacOS/vm ./lb5alpha64.im
Which then brought up this dialog: "lb5x64-352.app" cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. Which of course can be bypassed in the system "Security & Privacy" preferences pane. (or right click and select "open" while holding alt). So now it is up and running. Immediately notice some lag when typing quickly in the editor window and clicking buttons, but other than that it seems to work!
