Proboards is a bit different than our old host, and some of those differences are important to our members. Please read the following list of helpful hints and reminders to insure that you get the most out of our community.
We hope this helps. We'll publish more helpful tips in the future. If you have any questions of suggestions about the structure or use of the forum, please post them on the Suggestions Board
- The forum menu (button bar) at the top of the forum provides links to important areas.
- Private Messages can be found by clicking the "Messages" button in the forum menu. If you have any new messages, the number will be displayed on the "Messages" button. It might be easy to miss, so check it from time to time. At least one member has missed the fact that he/she received a private message.
- The Notifications area also has a button on the menu bar. Notifications alert you to many events, such as another member quoting one of your posts, or liking one of your posts. They can also alert you to warnings you've received. If you've received new notifications since the last time you've accessed them, the number will be displayed on the "Notifications" button. Members sometimes miss these, so please check!
- Threads with many messages are divided into pages. You can see the number of pages in a thread in the upper left subject bar of the thread and you can select different pages from there. We've had cases where members thought a message was deleted because they were unaware of multiple pages in threads.
- Posting code is now easier, thanks to a custom plugin that is being written by admin, Chris Iverson. It causes code to be placed in a scrolling box so that long code does not cause threads to require a lot of scrolling. He's included a "copy code" link just above the code box. Click this link and the code inside the box will be copied to your clipboard, ready to paste into your application.
- To post code into a message, click on the "C" button in the editing menu. Type or paste your code into the box in place of the text, "insert code here."
- The scrolling code box does not appear when you view posts in "Recent Post" or "Recent Thread" view, so for best results open the thread containing the messages when you need to copy code.
- If you are on a mobile device, the forum view is customized by Proboards for ease of use on a small, touch screen. You can still access the desktop view by selecting the "Desktop" link at the bottom right of the page. The desktop view has more information and details, but is more difficult to read and navigate on a mobile device.
- We've added a custom page of Liberty BASIC links, which can be accessed from the "Links" button on the forum menu.
We hope this helps. We'll publish more helpful tips in the future. If you have any questions of suggestions about the structure or use of the forum, please post them on the Suggestions Board
