Has anyone had any success running Liberty BASIC v4.5.1 on an iMac? I am using the new M1 processor which vetos BootCamp. I tried Crossover but without much success. It was slow and would not react to mouse or keyboard input. Other products like Parallels are paid for and I would just like to know if anyone has any ideas. I know little about Wine. Crossover did seem to use Wine. I know very little about the iMac.

Wine has in the past given me some issues whereby a re-install has been necessary on multiple occasions so I have always kept backups on my Liberty install.
I have had fewer issues with PlayonLinux which seems to cocoon your LB install into its own little environment.
see if you can get somewhere. even if you get it up and running you should expect some odd errors from time to time when running code though.
good luck

Thanks, Like Crossover PlayonMac seems to use Wine. Both load up the software and show the editor. They run some sample programs. But when I run the space invaders sample program the screen loads slowly. While the invaders move the gun at the foot of the screen refuses to move and the screen refuses to close. I need to force close the app. It seems mouse / keyboard input to a graphicbox is not seen. Perhaps there is a setting within Wine for that?

Perhaps I am asking the wrong question. Since Crossover loads Wine efficiently my question is, are there any tricks to running Liberty on Wine?

Perhaps I am asking the wrong question. Since Crossover loads Wine efficiently my question is, are there any tricks to running Liberty on Wine? with Linux I have found it just works , however if by quoting your M1 processor you are implying it uses the latest version of MACos then you may have issues..
Official WineHQ packages of the development and stable branches are available for macOS 10.8 to 10.14 (Wine won't work on macOS Catalina 10.15). Please test these packages and report any bugs at bugs.winehq.org.
With linux & PlayonLinux it is a easy as "install A program". As the last install was maybe 5 years ago I cant remember if WineTricks was an automatic include or if I added it later.
