To get back to you, no that's not the problem, and I did try the 2nd textbox idea. It was during testing using virtual key codes, hidden input characters and other experiments. No problem, fixed by using a different method anyway.
On the Form generator. Since the current version writes code using stylebits commands it will not work in JB. When you are ready, post another update to be tested. Keeping one eye on this thread.

Looks like I am not going to make it by Christmas. I am still setting up the file system. That is a little more complicated than I first thought.
But Hay! Ya all have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have updated the designer .zip file. Hopefully it is fairly robust.
I am having more plumbing repair Wednesday, so might not work on the designer for a bit.

UPDATE:
Had the designer almost finished and ran into one of those OS error 16r57 things and am trying to resolve it. Bottom line, the designer will be a while yet.

Thank you for taking a look at it, Rod. I appreciate all the comments I can get, both good and bad. I am not sure that is an option. The LB runtime and support files are well over a megabyte compressed, an when the .TKN is considered I am looking at over 2MB. That makes it difficult to post on most web sites. JB and LB share the same libraries.

Have some trouble with my eyes, but I finally finished it. Did run into some strange LB errors that I had to work around. If you download this and like it you might make it a tkn in the startup directory and include it in the run tkn list. You could also make it an exe and pin it to your desk top.
If you have problems, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
LBFORMS.ZIP should contain the following: SUPPORT FILES: --------------- TAGS.TXT LBHELP.TXT CONTENTS.TXT LBFDESIGN[1].CFG LBFDESIGN.CFG SUPPORT DLLS: -------------- MNUCB.DLL TABCTL.DLL FILEDESIGN.DLL CTL_COLOR.DLL
SOURCE CODE: -------------- FORMS_016.BAS APP CREATED FILES (deleted on close): ------------------------------------- LBFORM.IDX LBFFORM.LST LBCTRL.IDX LBFCTL.LST LBFMNU.LST TEST._BAS

Would anyone be interested in the form designer as a stand-alone app or a dll rather than LB4.x source code?
PS: I have a stand-alone almost complete for JB. JB code is a little flaky for coding a good designer.

There are two functions (idecode$ and idefilename$) in LB4.x that allow utilities to work with code in the ide. I have been playing around with those, and it appears that I can use them as input/output functions to have a dll place code directly into the ide. Have not completely figured it out, but I think it will work.

Does that mean you want it as a dll, as a stand-alone app, or do you want it at all?

Yes, I don’t think it matters what form your tool takes so long as it provides runnable code as output. It may even have the option to include API tweaks but only for Liberty. Any new tool to help code is worthwhile. Formdesigner is quite old now and while the idea was for the community to develop it, that never happened.

Probably it feels good enough to use.

I have placed a stand-alone form designer on the JB forum. It aids in the design of default forms and controls and writes nothing to the mass-storage device unless you allow it. Total un-zipped footprint is approx 211K.
I have tested it extensively but, as the only tester, I am certain there are a few bugs. If you download it from the JB forum and run into a bug, please let me know. Give me as much info as possible. If there is something you would like included, let me know.
Enjoy

Walt, This is a little painful to use on my laptop since the form designer takes up the entire screen and the created window is not forced on top of the form designer. I have to slide the form designer off the screen to the right side (since there is no size box) to be able to select a control option and then click on the created window where I want it placed. Why not make the form designer window just large enough to hold the things it requires if the created window is not going to be forced above the form designer itself in the Z-Order?
Am I missing something?
