[rightclick]
gosub [stopit]
filedialog "Specify new file or one to continue work on", "c:\users\rodger\lbdrawings\*.drw ", filename$ : if filename$="" then close #1 :end
insert code here The program explicitly states where to get the *.drw file. Win 10 has created a folder "roger oxford" that does not show up in file explorer when searched for. The rodger name has to do with Best Buy misspelling my name on the paperwork to install replacement solid state drive. If I attempt to change the name, I risk another long wait at Geek Squad to reload software. Computer becomes unusable & recover mode fails at about 80% done. I read how to click on view in file explorer followed by options, choose this PC, followed by apply & OK. this is supposed to make Win 10 stop creating the quick access directory. Rebooting doesn't make it work either. The files available thru quick access when in a program mode quite often are not the "real" file. If I make a change to the "*.DRW" file, the program does not pick up on it. Quick access is a nuisance to me. I should mention that Win 10 ignores my efforts to stop awakening to a pretty picture, followed by a click type sign in and finally going to Bing home screen. I have been thru the Task Mgr turnoff routine in the instructions but no success. I think the CCP and MS are trying to force a formal "LOGIN" so they will know exactly who they are trcking.

At a quick glance with the limited code posted I see a possible problem.
Win 10 usually creates usernames of 5 characters long. Your username is rodger in your code. Try rodge - see if that helps.
If not post all the code.

Windows X most often just works, whether with quick access or not. I suspect you are not understanding User Account Control. If you have a default Windows setup, Windows will have set you up with an account that is set at user level, not admin level. In these circumstances when you logon you get given your own desktop and your own directory structure. If your wife logged on she would get her own desktop and her own directory structure. Thats why you can't see some files or directories because Windows is hiding them from you under UAC rules.
So no longer does c:/dir mean anything, it depends on who is logged in. It will all be held under c:/user/dir. The user changes with logon.
Don’t fight UAC, just learn to live with it. In terms of Liberty BASIC the system files are stored under program files x86 directory and are protected by Windows, so leave that dir alone. Your demo files and resources are stored in %appdata%, again, leave those example files alone. I usually just create a new basic directory for projects and such under c:/basic. Now behind the scenes this will actually be c/user/basic. windows calls this virtualisation, you appear to have your own desktop and file system but it is really just part of the main file system.
Type in %appdata% to explorer and it will show you the example files directory. Print out DefaultDir$ and StartupDir$ to see where Liberty is working from currently and where the system files are.
If you just logon as the default user and simply use the c:/basic/project file space you can mostly forget about UAC.
To be clear quick access is not the problem here.

As good democrats we can enjoy those delicious steaks in the future from Microsoft Farms, Inc.
The best advice for me is "to not fight it". At the c:\users\rodger prompt I did dir %appdata% and got five directories in addition to 2 hidden dirs. I did not expect to see LB4.5.1 in that location; or maybe it's not really there. Too deep for a casual user.
Thanks for the explain.

The Liberty files are split between protected system files and user files which include .bmp .media, sound files and such. Just play about for a while looking at the file locations using explorer.
