Is Liberty Basic still alive? It doesn't appear to have updates in a while.
Thanks!

LB 5 is actively being developed by Carl. The development comes in spurts as Carl has time for it since Liberty BASIC is not Carl's full-time job/income.
In the meantime, continue enjoying everything that you can do with LB 4.5.1...

Whoa! One guy? He makes all the decisions of what, when, where? How did things work out for Run Basic? I see a similar pattern. Thanks for the update.. I'll move on.

Well, there have been hurdles that Carl has had to overcome since initially starting development for LB 5.
Sorry you feel like moving on...
Even LB 4.5.1 has more to offer than quite a few people realize.
Happy coding wherever you land!

I see from Facebook that he had a change of job in 2022, probably that is holding his attention. One day he may retire, like a lot of the folks on the forum. Then things will hot up!

I also like it. My favorite language. Unfortunately the systems I was writing had bugs that I couldn't find work arounds. The bugs still exist and people had to move on. I looked at LB to see if it could match RB. But not yet.

I also like it. My favorite language. Unfortunately the systems I was writing had bugs that I couldn't find work arounds. The bugs still exist and people had to move on. I looked at LB to see if it could match RB. But not yet. LB is MUCH more powerful than Run BASIC. But they're two different types of programming languages. RB is for the internet and for private networks and LB is used to create applications for the PC. RB is a relatively new concept, so it will probably take a while for it to catch up with the power of LB. I'm actually considering purchasing the RB license before it's upgraded to 64 bit because I think it's a good way to put old 32 bit machines to work, if for nothing else but having a personal network that's easy for an old BASIC programmer to create internet and network apps for. Once the 64 bit version comes out the 32 bit version will no longer be available, or at least that's been my experience so far with Liberty BASIC products. I would love to have the last (or best) versions of LB 1.x, 2.x, and 3.x because I sometimes like to play around with legacy computers, DOSbox and other legacy machine emulators. I think it would be great to be able to create apps for some of those old machines. I already have 4.x and am looking forward to the release of 5.x. If you don't have a licensed version of LB yet you should try Just BASIC, the free version of Liberty BASIC @ JustBASIC.com

Interesting.. Can you give examples where LB is is more powerful than RB? I'm always willing to learn.

Carls group BASIC programming language hosts lots of activity and pointers to other resources, languages and discussions.
