To what folder is the new LB program downloaded? Must the associated input and output files be in the same folder, or must they be somewhere else? Thanks for any response. OldNorm

If LB is installed according to the Microsoft rules then LB is installed under: Program Files(x86) in a sub dir >Liberty BASIC v4.5.1 The user files are placed in the administrator area, so in C:\ Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Liberty BASIC v4.5.1 The bak files and the ini file are there also. You may replace the bak files and the Liberty BASIC part in above, but keep in mind that it's better if only the administrator can reach LB and LB Data. Don't let guests mes up your Windows ... The files in Program Files (x86) directory are the protected system files and should be left alone. The sample files are in %appdata% this is the windows special variable that holds the users appdata path. Key %appdata% into the search box in file explorer to see it. If you set preferences to open the last file you will lose sight of the %appdata% directory. If you set preferences to open the welcome file it will open in %appdata% and you will easily see where the example files are.
You don't need to use those directories. Far better to set up something like c:\basic and open project directories in that. So c:\basic\projectname.
So now you know it is a little more complicated than in the past but you can just forget about it and play in c:\basic
