Let’s be clear that it is the main Liberty BASIC sales site under discussion.
My thoughts are that we are too eclectic a mix for one graphic to attract us all. Game graphics attract zero interest here. Graphical wonders attract a little more attention. Dull old databases attract even more. What gets most attention here is bugs and problems. But this is s help forum not a sales site.
Scratch and Python are targeted at youth and mostly integrate IOT or robotics. Not our scene? Who is buying Liberty? It needs to attract them, and who isn’t buying Liberty youth perhaps? Target market needs better definition.
Then I think you need someone better versed on current web graphics to offer solutions. As always it’s more about getting it found and search displayed than total reliance on a single graphic.

Couldn't agree more Rod, A quick look at Basic for Qt ,Gambas, Lazarus,Freebasic,PureBasic,Python,TrueBasic,Xojo,B4J,ETC they all do seem to have a cleaner and brighter looking website. whether that translates into more sales...unsure?
I do note that some programming sites show screen shots of users creations , maybe there are good examples available from the over 500 members here
that can be used on Carl's fresh new design.
But certainly when I was in business, and I have bought and sold over twenty businesses in my working life the first task I undertook before marketing to get old and new customers through the door was to give the front of store a complete make over.
It worked for me, but then these were bricks and mortar stores.
Good luck Carl. Your commitment is commendable.
Maybe also re-visit the prospect of an annual fee from those of us that can afford it and offer rolling updates ... say for the pro-version maybe.

Actually, I like the look and feel of libertybasic.com. Some of the modern sites are designed in such an abstract manner that the sense of heiarchy is lost. I think a straightforward site is timeless in its appeal, and can speak to its viewers across generations.

Yeah, I like the Python site, simple, full of info, easy to navigate but modern.

I think a straightforward site is timeless in its appeal, and can speak to its viewers across generations. That's the problem I have with 'modern' site designs. They look nice, but they don't present much information.

I've always been a big fan of some of Apple's site designs back in the Snow Leopard days; lots of white space, static horizontal upper navigation bar, shadowed icons...

I like how Apple gets to the point: What's New..What is it?.. but still has links for the techs; Developer..Tech Specs.. But always ends with Buy Now. If I had one criticism of the current LB site, is that it has three separate navigation areas; the blue bars on the upper left, the blue pills on the top, and just random links on the side. And on some pages, the navigation disappears altogether or it's a shocking transition to a different site like the forum. There's also a lack of consistent color and layout. Okay, that's three things. Oops. Liberty BASIC's navigation might be simplified to just: News | What is Liberty BASIC? | Gallery | Support | [Buy Now]Then a nice image of overlapping shots showing the beauty of the thing. And always the app icon. Other things like Command Reference, Forum, Links, etc. would be on the Support Page. And then maybe some article titles with "Read More >" after a brief descritpion like: * "Not Your Grandparent's BASIC." * "Why Procedural Programming Will Always Be Better than OOPs." * "BASIC in the 21st Century?" * "Wait! What? 10 PRINT? No. Where have you been for the past 40 years?" Jus' spit-ballin' @

Yeah, Apple's site is nice and could be a source of inspiration. An important difference though is that Apple's site sells a bunch of different things. Liberty BASIC is just one thing.

I completely agree. That's why I chose the page specifically for their flagship software application; Mac OS X. It's really pretty amazing when you consider that the page says it all with just three laptops showing the Dock and a few open Windows.
I can imagine Liberty BASIC doing something similar, but showing it running in macOS, Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi, etc., with the debugger, editor and impressive graphics program windows showing the obligatory Mandelbrot and four-color, 3D wave plot. Toss in a game as well.

A citation of the inventor of C++, Bjarne Stroustrup:
Question: "Why don't you make your website look modern?"
Anwer: "I'm a "contents provider" not a website designer. I can use my time to improve the contents or the looks, but not both. What looks "cool and modern" to someone is often considered bad taste by someone else, and fashions change fast. Also, very plain html downloads and displays faster than anything else, and many people still suffer from slow web connections."

Sorry. Probably local (Russian) meme. So "+1" means "I'm with you on that" and "100500" means "OVER9000" so +100500 Means something like "Totally wholeheartedly agree thousand times"
