I have a sprite creation tool in the making. I am rolling my own drawing routines and deliberately avoiding API or DLL support. Slower but more satisfying. Sprite drawing can be a pain, so the more supportive tools you have the better. There is still lots to improve but it works and produces useable sprites. It has stuff like two color drawing, right left click , undo line box ellipse fill etc and some useful folding routines that let you draw half the sprite and fold it symmetrically to get the second half for free! It has a rotate routine that needs work but works well on busy, photo realistic sprites. There is an import window that serves just to host your muse, or it can crop and resize graphics to the sprite window. Help FileSpriteCreator

I have added multiple frames and copy paste functionality between frames. I have also added a grid tool to allow easy import of fixed size sprite sheets. The help file outlines the tools capabilities and you can get it here. The links in the original post and the screen shot have been updated.

The grid selection has been improved and with Anatoly's help a new perspective transform has been added. The help file has been updated.

Thanks, I got a bit fixated on the “square” theme. I should really rework the code to allow variable width and height. I need to think about isometric support as well. But the sun is shining and outdoor activities are short lived in Scotland!

A little more progress on Sprite Creator. The color handling is more robust and a few more tools. A soften brush and a clone brush. Import now ignores background color and import handling in general is much more robust. A good few bugs eliminated but probably still some to find. What I like most about this code is that there isn't a single API call involved, all native, with tooltips! I have used a PDF help file which seems to work well. Sprite Creator v2

Sprite Creator v2Rod, this is awesome. For years we have been using graphics gale then we have had to use the spritemask maker. This really takes it to the next level absolutely love it. Thank you for posting/sharing.
