Something a little different - A GUI for Wizmo

Many years ago I came across a little assembly program that allows the user to create particles in space, add a sun, or blackhole, define the gravity of the sun, blackhole and particles, then watch it evolve.

Not all of the possible wizmo commands are being utilized.
Many of these commands deal with display, hibernation, monitors, shutdown, reboot......etc.
The GUI ONLY utilizes the commands for the screensaver/graphics capabilities.

I liked playing with this and trying different values, but it was cumbersome creating the shortcuts.

Just recently I put together a GUI to make it a bit easier to make changes, and run it again, and again.

All you need to do is goto the website above and download wizmo, and then put it in the same folder as the .bas file created with the code below.
Run the code, plug in some values, and hit the Run button.
Don't move your mouse, or touch any keys until you want it to stop.

The possible systems are infinite.

This is another example of what can be done with Liberty Basic.
Using the command line of an exe file, we can create our own GUI's

P.S. If their is any interest in creating a GUI for the other commands wizmo will accept I would consider working on it.

I should have explained a little better, instead of expecting anyone to read the wizmo page.

You can use any values you like, but some values are going to look crazy.
It may take a while to get used to it.

1. You can choose a sun, or a blackhole as the "gravity well"
2. You must give the "gravity well" a mass or it is meaningless.

3. Trails will show a red trail of length given in pixels.
4. Number of particles can be any number.
5.The "particle gravity" applies to ALL particles, not individual ones.(wish I could change that)
6. The grid is # of particles X # of particles. If used, the original # of particles gets ignored (if populated)
7. "line" is an invisible line that lines up the particles.
8. Boundary option
"solid" - like hitting a wall
"elastic" - like bouncing off a wall
"infinite" - particles can go off screen, and come back (may take a while in some cases.)

2 examples should get you started
#particles 3 , particle gravity 8, with a sun, a gravity well of 100, using "solid" boundary
#particles 3 , particle gravity 8000, with a sun, a gravity well of 80000, using a "solid" boundary

It is almost a solar system creator, but not quite.
Play around. Create binary systems, or use the grid to create some amazing symetricals.
Use a blackhole instead of the sun.

Note, if you use scaling in Windows display you only see part of the screen.
It will work with many particles since written in machine code, it's fast.

Scroll down the page, past halfway, till you get to a header that says:
"GRAVITON SCREEN SAVER PARAMETERS"

Read the rest of the page to get a good idea of what it can do. As you'll see, it was designed for creating shortcuts with command line options. One shortcut per attempt.

If you are interested in the other commands, not related to the screensaver, the program could be edited to include them as options, or you could use this app as an example to write another app to utilize them, however I have no interest in the other options.
If it had an option to change windows display resolution on the fly, then maybe I'd be interested.

Made a couple of minor changes to help users understand with the options, by renaming "well gravity" to "well mass" and "particle gravity" to "particle mass" , and moving the "well mass" button close to the "Gravity Well" options.

Note: - Options can be left empty if desired.

Years ago, I had a program where I could add planets, suns, blackholes, in any numbers, and individually give them mass, direction and speed. If anyone remembers the name of it, please let me know. It may have been a screensaver too, I cannot remember.

What I'm trying to do is:
A controlled attraction.

Object that attracts (so that it moves), and keeps remotely (so that it stops moving), oscillating in the absence of a counter reaction.

(A job for tsh73...Which will be a base that I will have to transcribe in 3D.)

Added ability to save the configuration.

Once saved just click the Line in the listbox to activate.
After clicking an item in the listbox, the textboxes DO NOT re-populate with the new values.
It just runs the line selected, so don't move the mouse after selecting an item.

Also added another command for ability to increase mouse sensitivity.
Keeps the screensaver running if the mouse gets moved a little, depending on value.
0 - You'll need to hit the "any" key.
(1 - infinity) - You need to move the mouse that many pixels so don't go too big or..... "any" key.
Default is set at 50
500 saved configs max. - Or change all the Dim statements manually.

Makes it easier to share your configs with any other enthusiasts too.

I like using very few particles, with low mass, infinite boundary, and nothing else, and try to keep everything in view on screen.
I also noticed that in many cases as you increase the masses, it speeds up the action.

The grid can make some really spectacular symmetrical systems. Try small grids and low masses, and watch the action.
Try all kinds of settings, this is an amazing little assembly program.
It can handle a 50X50 grid and still stay fluid, and fast on my PC.
That's 2500 particles being calculated.
