I'm looking to rename the*.bmp's in the bas_files/bmp folder programmatically (easier for a linux user if names are all lowercase)
and I don't seem to be able to rename or kill even tried KILL"filename$" , KILL(filename$) , KILL(path/filename$) and KILL$(filename$)

Well, this shall be remedied, but in the meantime try this: run "cp ./bas_files/bmp/BAR.BMP ./bas_files/bmp/bar.bmp"

Try this:
run "for i in $( ls | grep [A-Z] ); do mv -i $i `echo $i | tr 'A-Z' 'a-z'`; done"
And it'll rename all of the files in the current working directory to lowercase. To change the current working directory, use the "mv /new/path" command.
