Can someone please confirm, Can mouse button clicks and location only be trapped in a graphic box or graphic window? i.e not in a text box?
Can the border on a button be completley removed, or can the colour of the border be changed? i.e. to make it completely disappear except for the text? Thank you

Yes to both. 1)Okay, you can actually track the mouse position and read clicks anywhere but using some API.
2)You can do a lot of things with StyleBits. Read about that at the help Files. The color borders I don't think so. But you can cook your own button, maybe a BMPButton will do?
There are many solutions.

You can track the mouse anywhere with API but why create that complexity and loose all of the inbuilt user event management the other controls give you.
Buttons are meant to be seen so the user knows to click them. If you present a line of text how do they know to click the words? You can do it but you are better off using the controls as is. A normal button looks like everyone expects, take the border off it and color it the same as the background and it is no longer a button?.
Generally speaking graphicboxes are for graphics. They can mimic controls like buttons but you then have to manage all the user input. I would get your application up and running using as many standard controls as you can. You can beautify it later.
You can do a lot with bmpbuttons which look good but retain the inbuilt event/input management.
