Are they still available somewhere? They contained much useful info. Would be a shame to lose it all!

Conforums made the archive available for download, so we have it. The staff is planning to pay for hosting so that the information is not lost. We are doing our best, so please be patient. It's a lot of work for the staff, and we must wait for our hosted site to be upgraded. We'll be sure to announce the forum archives and the wikis when we get them online.

They sure did, they also contained much dross, failed code , failed understanding and plain daft code. In my view about 9:1 dross v interesting useable code. Don't get me wrong, there were gems. The gems were rescued long ago and became part of LBPE, you can find most anything covered there. So what to do with the dross and remaining interesting code? How to identify the dross? We could put it ALL back online (planned). Or, we can start using the LBPE and asking a few questions if we are not sure. Your own Hex question is an excellent example, you could look back over hundreds of attempts to code a function to verify hex or you could throw down the challenge here.
We are planning to put it all back online. I for one am not a fan of that. I would rather have a live interactive community because we have some very bright participants with much experience. We shall see how it all develops over time.

I haven't been active for quite a while, but now that I am trying to find some information again, I find the old forum gone, and LBPE disappearing soon as well, because wikispaces is closing down. Maybe a good reason to try to preserve as much as possible before it's too late.
Obviously this is just my opinion, not taking into account the effort, time and cost involved in realizing this.

As has been said above both the old forum information and the LBPE at the wiki have been preserved and will be on line soon. Our new host is an old time Liberty BASIC supporter and is upgrading servers to host the old forum and LBPE. If you have a specific question you need help with just post on the new forum. A few members do have limited access to the old forum data so we can research your question.
