Looks really great indeed.

For the record: 601 spheres took 15 minutes on my system and it was not worth the time spent. Oh the sacrifices I make for Basic computing!
Maybe we can reflect a ground laden with bright and colorful eggs? instead of boring checkers.

Yup- my eggs can now be positioned, sized and egg-proportioned and colour-filled. I look forward to working out how the ray-tracing stuff works when I've time. Meanwhile ( I know I've published flowers before -see my site) here is a spiral of eggs using my egg code. I call it a 'clutch'...

Me likes field of sunflowers idea. Anyone have/ could make a picture of sunflower in 16 QBcolors? (to tile and make sunflower field) 100x100 pixels likely be enough. (will have 16 if I remove shade from a sphere/egg. Or I could invent something (like, shade (-8) only colors with codes >=8) ) I just put random tile in the thing, so far colors are doctored by hand. (and aliased text added a noise) And it happens to end upside down But it renders and reflects (and even shades under the ball), have a look
EDIT fixed upside down thing, moved tile for better view

Because people at another forum were saying that egg shape looks like candy corn or guitar pick (wrong it's a "plectrum" according to trivia fan), I took a Cage Free egg from fridge modified code to match it's outline and came up with this: It' going to be a bit harder to draw and decorate, no formula, it was made from multiple circle fills modifying my mod of tsh73 egg work for RayTrace. The bottom 2 numbers are the distance from center of screen on x axis.

The current 'scientific' egg-equation is.. However you'll not see much difference if you omit all but the first part! I'm now playing with Magic Eye use of egg images. If you are used to viewing these, the image below should show each row at a different depth, with the light blue row 'out of sequence'.

Re sunflowers. The rainbow code is currently producing 183 unique colors though it spreads them over 223 colors. So there is room to improve the rainbow code and still have some yellow and brown for the sunflower. But it is a long time since I messed with palettes.

I'm confused about why you need to mess with palettes when you have RGB color. Color me ignorant.

Well tsh73 is looking to do Sunflowers with some sort of limited pallet tile in order to please a certain person asking for Sun flowers in the Ray Trace thing. I am confused how we go from eggs to butterflies to sun flowers to tiles with limited colors Need a seat belt for this thread! ;-)) Oh and look at the formula John brought us! and Magic Eye stuff now too. Maybe not seat belt, maybe run for your life!
