That's strange. Are you able to type the bas_files folder name into the field below?

I installed latest Mint Linux xfce 32-bit in virtual box and the file dialog worked fine. What version precisely of Mint are you using?

filedialog worked for me on LinuxLite (Ubuntu). The following code allows me to open a sub-directory and then open a file and read it in to the console display:
filedialog "Open", "*.bas", fileName$
open fileName$ for input as #codeFile while eof(#codeFile)=0 line input #codeFile, codeLine$ print codeLine$ wend close #codeFile

I do seem to have to do a more rapid double-click than I normally do, but it works fine for me on Mint 19 both above example and loading from BASIC editor.

Hi John, just to confirm, when selecting ctrl +"o" or click on File then OpenFile you are able to double click on the bas_files folder and select any of the example programs?
After Carl's statement that it works for him I downloaded the latest Mint 19.1 cinnamon 32bit and installed it to my "Atom" desktop, I still cannot double click on the bas_files folder to gain access to the example code. I can however type in bas_files and click on "OPEN' and gain access.

Yes. As long as it is a fast double-click!

Yes. As long as it is a fast double-click! Thanks, I see it is actually working for me, adjustments to the mouse time out and sensitivity seem to have no effect on the required speed. A bit of a trap really, normally that sort of speed is not required.
thanks for the feed back

This is fixed in build 349 by increasing the double-click time to 400ms from 200ms.
