Ok I am the proud owner of a new Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ I have fired the Pi up and updated its own software with the noobs download. It works fine. I then downloaded LB5 and extracted it to a folder home/pi/liberty/lb5-349.
The rpi-alpha icon is there. When I click it I get a dialog telling me its an executable and do I want to Execute it. I click on that but nothing happens. I appear to have permission as default user pi and free access?
Anyone got over that hurdle?

Excellent, sprites and graphics on a Pi. Happy now, thanks. And doing this on x86 Linux is essentially the same process.

Excellent, sprites and graphics on a Pi. Happy now, thanks. I still get nothing. Currsor turns to an hourglass for a bit and then back to the usual arrow and nothing else happens. No Liberty Basic window opens.

Is there now a Liberty Basic icon on the pi desktop? What happens when you click on that?

Is there now a Liberty Basic icon on the pi desktop? What happens when you click on that? One shows up in the applications menu ( which has an option to send to desktop ). Clicking the desktop icon does the same, clicking in the menu I get an error message that says it is an invalid link. I'm going to try doing it directly instea of over VNC and see what happens.

Situation: 76 years old, speak linux almost as well as Icelandic (ie. NOT AT ALL!) 3 of my children & grand children got me 4 Raspberry-Pi 4 Desktop Kits, and 10 Pi 3 B+ with PS & microSD cards for Christmas.... All are now up & running Buster
I Downloaded the lb5-350.zip file, unzipped it into into a file named /home/pi/LB-5/lb5-350 in the home directory in the Pi-4 boards. The directory contains rpi-alpha, lb5alpha.im and several other files.
I followed Carl Gundels instructions (shown below) to the prompt in the terminal window to : ~/LB-5/lb5-350 $ and typed in : ./rpi-alpha lb5alpha.im
Open a terminal window. cd to the Liberty BASIC folder. type ./rpi-alpha lb5alpha.im and press Enter
LB5 came up and I checked out the stuff I need to do what I need.......
Trig functions & inverse trig functions Log & Exponentation functions 10 digit numerical accuracy loops Arrays File storage & retrevial Graphs will come later
******************************* SUPER JOB! *******************************************
I would VERY MUCH like to have a "button" to do the work of firing up LB-5 similar to what I have in my copy of LB-4.5.1 in win-10.
My intent is to run most of the hardware in the headless configuration with each of the boards doing the same type of optimization search on different differential functions to develop a usable set of equations to model a really tough optical problem.
My biggest problem is time... I don' have much of my lifespan left, I am a math/analog type and stand in awe of you digital types..And I do not want to fight my way into an operating system. (Been There Before!), and I AM FED UP WITH WINDOWS!

Read and arrived at Whits End with the listings in this section on "how to create a 'click here to bring up LB5' " since I don't have enough of the language to understand those listings Not sure if that is your attempt at Icelandic, a rhetorical statement or a soliloquy but as a frequent visitor to Wits end I will offer assistance believing I understand the question. That is a desktop shortcut, ( I hope)...... The first thing I did was to open a text editor then past in the code below and save it to ....well I placed mine in the directory that LB5-350 is in and I saved it as lb5.sh.
#!/bin/bash cd /home/pi/LB-5/lb5-350 ./rpi-alpha lb5alpha.im
Then navigate to the folder using the file manager, right click on the file and select properties , click on the Permissions tab and select "execute by owner"...click OK
Now right click on an empty part of the desktop and select new File save it as LB5.Desktop then right click on the new icon for LB5.Desktop and choose from the "open with" drop down, scroll to Customise. Then select the "Custom Command Line " TAB You can now browse to the lb5.sh script , select it and then back back out to save the selection. As you back out you can insert at the bottom of one of the windows
the application name, I used LB5
Once completed right click on the LB5.desktop icon and once again select Permissions TAB to make it executable by owner
Of course there is also the correct way........https://libertybasiccom.proboards.com/post/3414/thread other things of interest for the newby Pi owner... mind an understanding of Swahili helps

Excellent, sprites and graphics on a Pi. Happy now, thanks. Got it up and running. Just an important question. When do you expect the "create standalone" to completed? I would like to incorporate it in a product.
